Flatcon 2018 Warhammer 40k

Flatcon went off again with a better year this year, in Bloomington Illinois.  Some of our Events are captured below! With 68 Table top Gamers total over 3 days we featured Combat Patrol, 40k RTT, ShadeSpire, Guildball, Kill Team, and Age of Sigmar.  Thanks to Ministomp.com, Red Raccoon Games, Kromlech, Miniwargaming, Spellcrow Studios, Miniature Market, Hidden Forrest Gaming, Paintedfigs.com, and much more...  The Con had approx. 500+ gamers which was a 10% increase over the previous year.  Our thoughts are to continue with 32 player events and expand into more.  We made 4 new 40k tables, 6 kill team tables, and 2 new Age of Sigmar Tables.  Thanks to all the volunteers that made this happen.

Flatcon 2018 Terrain Table 1

My selection of paints in order to form the table below! Started with dark primer, grey spraypaint, then highlighted grey and white.  I then used boltgun metal spray and then highlighted with metallics.  I then dirtied the metal with brown spraypaint in spots and streeked silver off of edges.  I then went back over certain areas with yellow spray and used a hand cut out stencil to make all the hazard symbols.  Lastly before sealing with flat and varnish seals I went back over some of the yellow areas with brown spray.  

One week doing the steps above andusing plenty of ventilation of course.

Flatcon 2018 Midwest Event!

Well its been awhile since I posted, about 3 years, but I haven't taken any type of break.  I have been busy with Age of Sigmar 1 and 2.  More specifically I have been painting up Stormcast! Stormcast from the Original boxed set, then a Vanguard army and more recently in the Summer of 2018 Souls Wars.  As you could see on my feed (https://twitter.com/ODTGaming).

But next is a large local event called Flatcon! Check out flatcon.com its Central Illinois's Largest Non-For Profit Relay for Life in Mclean County.

Flatcon in 2018 features 3 Great New 40k Events Combat Patrol, 40k RTT, and Kill Team events happening Friday, Saturday, and Sunday October 12th-14th 2018.

We have been working with several vendors to make this happen; such as, Ministomp.com, Kromlech.eu, SpellCrow Miniatures, Hidden Forrest Gaming, MiniWargaming.com, Avatars of War, PaintedFigs.com, and Red Raccoon Games in Bloomington, Illinois. Midwest Rampage 2015: Orcs and Goblins

Well Midwest Rampage was awesome and I drug out my Orcs and Goblins for a 5 game 3,000 pts 2 day tournament in May of 2015.  Skarsnik lead the horde with, a level 4 Night Goblin Shaman, Goblin BSB, and 2 Night Goblin giant squig riders, 3 hordes or Night Goblins, a Horde of Squigs, a Giant, 4 Manglers, 2 Doom Dovers, 3 Bolt throwers, Chariots, and Pump Wagons.  

It was a fun time I played several players from the Chicago area and Wisconsin I went 2-1-2.  Additionally, I walked away with Best Painted out of 24 Players which I was proud of and scored a perfect 50/50 painting score.  Pictures below.

Adepticon 2015 Warhammer 40k Armies

This is a quick run through I did in order to get a couple quick snapshops of the largest displays on display in the morning at Acon before players had table assignments.  Below is pictured GMM Studios which always has an outstanding entry and of course usually win best painted in some category.

This cave display had a Ork Mek coming from the central area.  A landing strip on top of the mountain hold all lit up with LED Lights 

Best Painted GMM Studios the display is about 6' tall and all hand scultped from various stuff!

I liked tis huge display with a layed catecomb effect and LED Lighting

This was also a large display featuring a multi-layer inner building for units and vehicles.

This large 3'+ tower had a road built around the central tower that vehicles were put on

Again another multi-layered board with a underground area for more units/drops

This team display was off to the side but had sever videos playing background videos.

Close-up of Castle Entrance

This Castle is a mock up of a small castle of Talabheim.  The halflings have come to the rescue as the castle is being assaulted by the onslaught of Nurgle Demons and Epidemus.  The Halflings have turned to Nagash and used the Lore of Undeath, his summoned units are below.  My Empire list consisted of a level 4 of Undeath, 2 Cannons, 2 units of 5 knights one of which is an inner Circle and 1 unit of 3 Cardinal, Demi Gryph, Knights.  The Empire went 2-1 losing to a Legion of chaos list and blowing their own cannons up game one and onto winning the last two games... karma.  I did have a fun game versus Chris from Canhammer and can now put a face with the name.

The lower portion of my castle resembles a cave, the Lore of Undeath units have Risen!  Now the Risen Undeath arise.

 My Legion List with Lore of Undeath did ok, but went 1-1-1.  I took 1 level 3 with a herdstone, 1 unit of horrors, a Mino Hero with Blackshard Armor, 3 Trolls, 1 Chaos Chariot, and 1 SkullCannon.  Again my list did ok, but it didn't min or max out in any category.
