Capital City Games 2k Tournament

Round 3 CCGS Tournament
Well traveled an hour down South to an old hangout when I used to be in Springfield, Illinois.  They had the local shop run by Dave running two tournaments in one day, Warhammer fantasy up front and Warmachine in back.

We ran a 3 round, tiered scoring, 2,000pt tournament.  I ended up with a bye in round one because my opponent didn't show up until round 2 so I did some errands.  By round 2 though I was refreshed and faced off against an Ogre list(Slaughtermaster, BSB, 12 Bulls, 12 Ironguts, Stonehorn, Gorger, and 3 Mournfang.  My Chaos Dwarf list was Lvl 4 Hashut(earth rod), BSB(black hammer), lvl 1 metal(Chalice), 20 Chaos Dwarfs, 22 hobgoblins, 2 Rocket launchers,  1 magma cannon, 1 kdaii destroyer, and 3 bull centaurs.  The first couple rounds shooting and magic didn't help a whole lot.  I did a couple wounds here and there but I didn't kill the stonehorn, even with a flank charge from the destroyer.  I did manage to however counter his ironguts with characters by pursuing the stonehorn and flanking that unit for 3 turns.  After turn 3 my hobgoblins delt with a gorger behind the lines, and ash storm held his generals unit until turn 6.  I then flank charged and front charged what was left his bulls Ogres with a character and destroyed them, at that point i was at the high point of a tie.

Game 3 went to my local bud Joe(who runs the waaaghcast.net) he took his skaven with an abomb, 3 clanrat units, a few warmachines, and general on bonebreaker in a rat ogre unit.  Problem with this game is that my dice were on.  My first casting faze saw the level 6 hashut spell over his generals head killing him and several ogres, along with the destroyers 18'' move in front of 5 units.  The following turn he charged with his BSBs unit, Abomb, a ball of death, and another heavily armored rat unit.  within 2 turns of combat the destroyer had taken 4 wounds but killed one unit, the bsb, and his regiment, and was pursing the clan rats.  The shooting was mediocre and magic wasn't that amazing after turn 2.  Joe conceded and that is understandable.

However the question then came up about players deficient knowledge of the Chaos dwarf manual and why I brought all the toys I did.  I have to say I only used the Chalice 1-2 times per game, not every round and tried to explain all the rules, but its alot of information at one time.  Its hard to say if its legitimate to take such a hardcore army to a local event but it is what I want to play.  We may adjust whats in the list or the events its taken to in the future to avoid the social fire-blaze!

Tomb King Army Project

army picture

Well here it is, as promised some army pictures of the Tomb Kings at their current owners residence.  Painted the army mainly with old GW colors purple, turquoise and White.  Washes were newer washes such as devlon mudd, badab black, purple/blue wash, and then a reapplication of the base colors.  Additional highlights were put on characters.  Basing is done with basic sand to try and keep all colors together and with the desert theme.  Post Comments, thanks.
Painted a Casket, 4 characters, 6 Necro Knights, 2 Skull catapults, 10 Skeleton Horse Archers, 1 Character on Skeletal Steed, the tomb scorpions I did not paint, 25 skeleton archers, 4 carions, and the heirotitan was previously painted last year.
Casket

Not imaged but painted are 6 chariots, 25-30 Tomb Guard, and a few more characters.
Skeleton Archers and Archer Cavalry

Carrions

Necro Knights

6-8 Ushabti have been requested so I can only assume this project is not completed, this army as of now can easily reach 2,500-3,000 pts with characters, unit upgrades, and magic items.

Troll Project

Well another update on the Troll Front. Recieved my second order of arms in for the BFSP troll and am in the process of pinning them on. I have recently added some WoC shoulder pads to a few as well and am lining them up for all to see. Just to give them some variety I will be putting some ogre hands on them and cleaning up cracks with more green stuff. Any comments please post and happy Wargamming!

Troll Project

In continuation with the previous post following our dreadfull troll project a few more things have come about. First, snips have been made on the old BFSP trolls allowing new heads and arms to be pinned and glued in place of the old ones.
Second, after instacasting troll heads I have pinned all 18 on the BFSP trolls. Third, I had to ebay some new arms and found them on ebay; subsequently, I only ordered half of what I needed and had to order more which should be here in the coming week. Luckily everything seems to be coming together. However, I am still on the fence about my basing scheme with the new trolls. My original idea was to use lava bases left over from my Chaos Dwarfs so that I can use them in a new Monster Army for Warriors of Chaos Army.
But now I am thinking about doing resin bases to match the Orc and Goblin army I have since been redoing...we'll have to wait and see and get some real pictures on here. Any Advice is welcome so please comment.

Troll Project

The troll project is a series of articles and posts i will be putting together to map out some conversions. The basic idea is to take terribly sculpted trolls from 7th editions Battle For Skull Pass project and convert them into usable current models.
I will be doing this in several steps the first is to collect 18+ trolls for the core of a potential Throgg army for the new Warriors of Chaos book or as a Special choice in the current Orcs and Goblins book. Either way parts from either race will be used. The first step I will trying is below and that is an insta-cast mold of old stone troll heads with which I have several of already.
The problem I am running into with them however is the trimming of the heads and however I hope to solve this by using regular tools such as a dremil tool, exacto knife and then some green stuff.
